thelodgesm.com | Preparing for the Spring Semester
Winter break is long, but not long enough. With two weeks remaining in the break, you don’t want to wait until the last minute to get ready for the spring semester. Usually during this time there is so much going on; Finishing up the holidays, spring sporting events, spring break, and before you know it’s finals time again. Here are a few ways to help you prepare for all your events and schoolwork ahead of time:
1.    Buy a new 2020 planner. Organizing your life in a day-to-day fashion will help you sort everything out and never forget what you have going on the next day. I recommend using different colored pens for different things. Ex: green-work; red-school; blue; personal
2.    Ready your Syllabi ahead of time. Finding out what your professor(s) have planned for the semester is the best way to get ahead and prepare yourself! Notate when all his exams are scheduled, if/when you have quizzes, what the attendance policy is like, and what to expect from the class itself.
3.    Price/Buy your books!! If you haven’t already, figure out what books you need (typically on your syllabus) and hunt for the best prices. We all know those darn things can be SO expensive so why not get ahead of the game and beat everyone to the best deals?! Besides, prices on books go up once the semester starts so save some cash and jump on that ASAP.
4.    Get your notebooks and supplies. Nothing says “New Semester” like a brand new pack of gel pens and fun notebooks! Make sure you get highlighters too for those research papers.
5.    CHILL. Once all your tasks are complete, take a few days to relax at home with friends and/or family and mentally prepare yourself to have the best semester ever!
Everyone has the same goal—to graduate and get that degree! These steps will steer you in the right direction for that! Keeping organized and staying ahead will help you decide where to live for the following year—HERE!!  Good luck on your semester Bobcats!
