Setting up watch parties for away games is the coolest way to get your friends together for a good time and show your school spirit! Throwing on your maroon & gold to watch the Bobcats play is so much fun. You can host them at your apartment, go watch it anywhere at the square, or go over to a friends place! Food, drinks, friends, and football… what more could you want?!
Away games are fun to watch with friends, but nowhere near as lit as home games! No one tailgates like TXST students! The school offers shuttle buses that pick up on campus and take you straight to the stadium/tailgate lot. If you aren’t near any of the shuttle pick up spots, uber & lift will be your best friend! You can risk driving yourself but it’s going to be almost impossible to find any spots, and even if you find one you will be walking quite a distance.
Greek Life, local businesses, school organizations, large friend groups, and families all line up at 8am to secure a tailgate spot or two. BBQ pits are set up, tailgates are dropped (literally), tents are put up, and speakers are turned on! Thousands of people fill the parking lot to watch the band, cheerleaders, and strutters walk through from Strahan Coliseum to Bobcat Stadium two hours before the game. Everyone joins in when the fight song comes on and yells out the school chant! People typically follow and head to the stadium early to catch the pre-game warm ups and grab the best seats in the student section. Once game time is near, everyone grabs the towels that the spirit program hands out and throws up the bobcat sign, getting ready for kickoff!
This season is going to be a good one and we can’t wait to see what’s in store for the Bobcats! Throw on your maroon & gold and cheer on our boys this year! Food, drinks, friends, and football… what more could you want?! Support your school and head out to the games this year; after all, it is free entry with your student ID. We’ll see you at both the tailgates & the games. Be sure to tag us in all your tailgate photos with your Lodge gear! EAT ‘EM UP CATS!!
